Movies To Be Considered for Top 100 List

The list is pretty good, and I'm enjoying going through and watching the ones I haven't seen one by one; however there are a few movies that I didn't even see in consideration for the top 100 that I thought should be there. Here they are in no particular order:

American Psycho: A. because Christian Bale is riveting in this movie, and his performance here would've made a strong case for him to have played the joker instead of Batman in the new franchise. B. the gore factor in it, while not overwhelming is still quite shocking. C. They do an outstanding job of portraying the lengths that a demented mind can go to and still keep it pleasantly disturbed.

Slither: While I think this movie was loosely based on of Night of the Creeps, there's no real way to prove it other than the similarity in slimy snail-like aliens that hop in people's mouths and incubate in their stomachs. The cast was put together nicely, the effects are really good, the gore is top notch, and there are quite a few shocking scenes.

Wishmaster (1997): Wes Craven, what can I say? The gore is a bit excessive at times, but hey we wouldn't be debating that fact if we weren't horror freaks. The villain is probably one of the creepiest ever, right along side Freddy, Jason, and Michael. The effects are spectacular for its time period, the shock factor is right with the gore. I don't know how this one wasn't even on the list of the Top 190.

Pandorum (2009): Yes, I'm making a case for a new horror movie. Yes it seems like there's a new 'people stranded on a ship with a bunch of mutated freaks running around eating people' movies that are out, and a bunch of them are not good. This one, however is. Ben Foster is really making a name for himself in everything he does, and he has a great deal of talent. For a low budget movie, they spared no expense on special effects, which included a scene of Ben Foster stealthily sneaking over a pile of mutants sleeping in an oil pit ala The Descent. Denis Quaid is surprisingly good in the role he had, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. There are a good amount of 'jump' moments, and the gore is good while not over the top. I recommend this to any horror movie freak like me.

Sunshine (2007): Again, this one was probably not considered because people hadn't heard about it. Great, great movie. Though the case can be made that it is more sci-fi than horror, there are still plenty of twists and turns. The majority of the movie has an Event Horizon feel to it. The crew must overcome several catastrophic events just to deal with a surprise ending that keeps us guessing. The gore factor is a bit mild with only one really gruesome scene purposefully distorted by a lens flare (did I mention the camera work is excellent?). However the story is great, the cast performs quite extraordinarily for a mostly no name cast (other than Cillian Murphy and Chris Evans). The film was well directed by Danny Boyle and if you liked 28 Days Later, you'll like this one.

Midnight Meat Train: I'm throwing this one in mostly because of the gore factor - there is quite a bit of it. On story, because it is fairly creative, and the fact that Vinnie Jones is so creepy. Also Bradley Cooper performed pretty well.

Koroshiya 1 aka Ichi The Killer (2001): Probably one of the more demented movies I have ever seen (thank you Japan). The gore is almost a little overdone, the shock factor is high to the point of uncountable. The acting is great as well as the camera work, and the hero is freaking slicing people in half! As for the bad guy, it was like Takashi Miike saw the joker and went 'let's screw him up more'! I won't spoil any of the story for you. The only thing I will say is Tempura-style heated oil used to torture someone (and that's a ta,e scene) seriously needs to be considered.

Repo! The Genetic Opera: Yes it is a musical, but so was Sweeney Todd, except this one is better. The music is addicting, the performers sing really well. The direction is outstanding and you get to see Paris Hilton's face get messed up! But seriously, the story is imaginative and new, the camerawork and direction is excellent, and the gore/shock factor is still quite high (including a musical number while disemboweling a victim). If you have not seen this movie, do not discount it because it has 'opera' in the title.

These are all the ones I can think of that really should be considered, and if I come across more I will let you know.
