My Horror Experience
by Monse
(Salem, Oregon, USA)
I've loved horror movies since I was eight years old. My parents, especially my dad, didn't want me to see one until I was old enough because he said the Devil would get inside me. Every time he said that, it made me want to watch one even more.
The very first horror movie I saw was Halloween (1978) which I watched on Halloween. It scared the heck out of me but for some reason I wanted to watch it again.
Every Friday was 'Horror Movie Friday' on a local TV channel and they would run the best old horror movies from 12 pm to 12 am. Every Friday at school, that's all I would think about. When I got home I would watch them.
Halloween is my favorite day of the year, not because of the candy but because of all the horror movies that are on TV. The thing I like best about horror movies (besides the horror and gore) is that they give you courage, and if life ever becomes like a horror movie, I know what is going to happen and what I should and shouldn't do.
To this day, I love horror movies - new and old.
