Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street - The Scariest Villain Ever!

Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street - The Scariest Villain Ever!

1. Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger is the single scariest villain ever to appear on the big scream. Despite being such an old movie it still possesses the ability to wake you up in a cold sweat.

2. The Grudge (American Version)

The beauty of The Grudge is that there are really two villains that you are left looking over your shoulder for. Although the young Japanese boy doesn't harm anyone, he is still super scary.

3. Wolf Creek

This movie possesses not only an evil and taunting villain but also a believable storyline. Road trips are now a whole lot less inviting.

4. The Grudge 2 (Japanese Version)

The American version of this movie is nothing short of terrible, but the Japanese - they sure now how to scare people.

5. The Ring

Another scream-inducing tale from Japan. It's clever and there is not a whole lot of death or gore, just an overwhelming feeling of doom. Not only are the characters facing the onset of death after watching a cursed video tape they are also haunted by a zombie girl. Keeps you awake at night for years after.

6. Pet Sematary

This was my first horror movie experience. A classic, fantastical Stephen King flick. Although it's a little dated now it is just as scary as any recent horror.

7. The Ring 2

Although not as good as its predecessor it is still a very scary watch. A child calling his mother "mummy" has never been so haunting.

8. It

Although the ending is somewhat disappointing It remains one of the best horrors that I have so far seen. Watch it and you'll never look at clowns the same again.

9. American Haunting

I'm not sure about everywhere else but in Australia this movie didn't go to cinema. I found the movie as a rental by chance and I had my doubts about it. However I was surprised at what a good movie it is. With its haunting story line, brilliant acting and unforeseen twist it should definitely be a priority to see it if you haven't already.

10. The Exorcism of Emily Rose

3am. For almost six months I awoke at exactly 3am waiting in cold sweat to be possessed. Although this is the sort of movie that should only be seen once, it leaves a lasting impression.

11. Urban Legend

There are a number of sequels to his now, but only the first two are of any quality. Its a classic serial murderer film, with a twist.

12. Children of the Corn

Another classic from Stephen King. This cult movie is effective with the storyline alone. A group of children murdering a whole town of adults? With Stephen King nothing is sacred..

13. The Haunting

A classic ghost movie, gives me shivers every time.

14. Poltergeist

A dated movie but a classic all the same. One that every horror fan must see.

15. Ghost Ship

Who can forget the classic scene at the start?
