The book

Good comments. I read the book quite a few years ago and the most disturbing scene was when the father had dug Gage's body up. It was wrapped up and as he drove, he reached down to feel if the boy's head was up or down in the seat. Creepy!

That might depend on what kind of beliefs one has regarding God, the Devil, supernatural phenomenon and all that. Its kinda subjective like that, ya know?

Why all the hatin?

I think Pet Semetary is scary for the same reasons you note - the side stories. That daughter... damn. What a freak out. The fact that it has a little kid as a vicious killer too... and the anticipation of pending doom as the little kid ventures to the road with the truck coming. It's a great flick.

This is a great list, and your "why" makes it all come together.
