The remake of NOTD was not something initially appealed to me that much. Being a classic- horror- movie fan ,I believed in the originals- are- always- better notion. Not anymore.
To put things clearly, NOTD was a movie which changed me into a zombie fan from a horror fan. To get down to the movie, it starts off with our protagonist Barbra and her brother driving out of town to visit their mother`s grave. The strange and scary stuff start right there when they are attacked by a walking, or let`s say staggering corpse. Her brother dies, but Barbra manages to escape, only to meet more zombies, till she takes shelter in some deserted farmhouse. A few more zombies, and a severed hand later, she meets Ben, who comes to the farmhouse in a car, knocking down a few zombies on his way. As they soon realize, the general zombie- elimination rule, knocking `em down ain`t enough, you`ve got to attack their head, i.e. their brain.
Anyway,it's at this point that as the sun sets, night falls, the tension starts to build and you`ll see why I am so much crazy over this movie. Ben and Barbra discover a few more living (actually) people in the cellar and together (with the exception of a sick child and her troublesome and stubborn father) they start boarding up the windows and blocking other such entry points, because as Ben said, the recently deceased are coming back to feed on the brains of the living. The tension of the whole scene is clearly complimented by the bulletins on the radio and a television set they find upstairs.
Meanwhile the zombie armies start their march up the hill and towards the farmhouse, because after all, it`s deserted countryside, and nothing`s better than all your food source being concentrated in one small lil farmhouse.
So I`ll have to leave it here I guess, or I`ll spoil your movie, and I wouldn`t want to do that because if anyone had done that to me with this movie I realize how mad I would have been! I may sound a bit over the edge with this movie, I admit that, but then each to his own, I guess. So tell me how you liked it (even if you haven`t seen it, I take it that you will be wise enough to, after reading this!) and in case you happen to know of any lesser-known similar movies, please do tell me, because I happen to be a total desperate horror movie fan all the way from India!
