Only Salt Kills Mud Monster

I saw a movie about a mud monster in the 70's that scared me, but I can't rememeber what it was called.
The only way to kill the monster is with salt, so the monster is eventually lead to the ocean and the salt water kills him.
Does anyone know what movie this is?
