Pancake Throwing Alien Monster

My father and I watched horror movies since I was young. Late night horror flicks that were aired on basic television that we made fun of before and after commercials are the ones we watched the most... They played such movies as Cat People and really old black and white movies. We loved them!!

There is one horror movie that has a history of being laughed at and mimicked in our family, but we can't figure out the title. This film has an alien (I'm pretty sure it was an alien - I do remember it being by water once in the film but don't think it was a water monster) that threw these pancake type sucking things that would attach to the victim and suck on them like a leach killing them (at least I think they would kill them).

I know they were the size of a pancake cause we used to throw coasters around the house acting out the movie in my family. So basically I'm looking for the title of the movie with the pancake sucking alien in it haha. We are stumped!!
