Purple-Eyed Monsters Fear Daylight

So I remember watching this 70's or early 80's post-apocolyptic movie with my dad as a kid where the protagonists are running from humans that had have turned into purple-eyed monsters and are unale to come out into the sunlight.

If anyone has an idea which movie this is, please let me know.
