Salvage: Indie Horror with Grit

Salvage Horror Movie Poster
It was not long ago that I was walking down the aisles of my local blockbuster. I was bored, and I was willing to pick up anything. My first movie that I rented was a bad "Saw" clone called "Are You Scared." I was ready to walk out of the blockbuster with my single movie in hand when I saw the cover of Salvage.
I recognized the lead actress in Salvage (Lauren Currie-Lewis) from the latest issue of Fangoria, so I decided to give the indie a try.
I went home and stupidly, I watched "ARE YOU SCARED" first. I was so bored that by the middle of the movie, I was asleep. After that snore-fest, I popped in Salvage. I was expecting just another run of the mill, boo-gotcha horror film. But what I got was a disturbing, gritty and yes, screamingly terrifying movie.
Salvage centers around a college student named Claire. She seems to have a good life, with a mom and boyfriend (Hilarious, I may add) who adore her. But it all seems to go awry when Claire is "killed" but wakes up back at work.
The days that follow are usually the same, class, work and getting killed by a creepy mechanic name Duke. The movie is a little hard to get, but if you pay attention, you should have no problem. The Gore in the movie would be about a 6 1/2 (on a scale to 10) but in the place of constant gore are well placed scares and clever story lines.
Any one who loves indie films, horror, or movies in general should rent Salvage. You won't be let down!
