Scary Scenes in my opinion
by: Jason

The last movie I saw was Dead Silence. The scene that freaked my out was when the girl in the beginning was looking down the hallway into her bedroom and was starring at the doll under the sheets. I also like the scene where the boyfriend came home and ripped the sheets off only to find his girl friend with her tongue ripped out. That was vivid, made my goosebumps get goosebumps.

Just thought I would mention that the little flutter of the keyboard in the opening scene of Halloween when young Michael is outside the house watching his sister and her boyfriend is extremely scary. When the upstairs light goes off there is that little do dado of a keyboard it gets me every time I watch it.

Aha, my old nemesis...
by: Katelyn

Hello, return of the Cow. Thanks so much for that, I really want to extend this list. Kudos for Nosferatu, I didn't even think of that, but Schrek (sp?) was definitely creepy. And Poltergeist! I'd like to note that not only it is a creepy clown, it's a creepy clown under the freaking bed! Why, Tobe why?

I have to admit, I am totally ashamed of my fear of both the Ring and the Grudge, but they just freak me out. They shouldn't but there you have it. I'm actually not a fan of the torture porn bit, not cause I find it offensive or too gory, I just think tension and atmosphere are ignored for excessive amounts of blood. Which is good fun in itself, but they never scare me. I wasn't even going to check out Hostel II or the Hills Have Eyes II, but I'll give them a look for sure.

Believe it or not, I've never found the Exorcist to be that scary. Certainly well done, and no doubt incredibly shocking at the time, but not scary. Maybe because I don't believe in possession? I don't know. Cheers though.

The Return of Cow...
by: CowtheSith

Katelyn, The Shining is one of the most scariest films of all time... as for number one... I wouldn't go that far. In my opinion, The Exorcist is numero uno. The scene when she is walking/running crab legged down the stairs with blood flowing from her mouth and down her face. Second, laugh if you must, is It for me. Not so much anymore though. In fact it is just plain and simple corny now. But when I was six, I snuck downstairs of the house I lived in at the time and watched it. Tim Curry outside of clown gear is scary enough. The fact that a clown is after kids is so, so, so creepy. Lets just say that to this day I hate clowns, I picture kids tlking to me through the sink as I brush my teeth, I do not walk on sewer drains, and did I mention, I HATE CLOWNS! Third would be The Shining. Not so much the twins(but trust me, they are creepy)but the simple fact that you are alone on a snowed-in mountain with a crazy ol' Jack and some pissed off ghosts with really not escape. That and the old lady. Which brings this question to mind... why in blue hell would he start to make-out with a random naked lady taking a bath in a haunted hotel? Anyway, the bear costume bj was odd too. The whole movie is messed up. Fourth, Serpant and the Rainbow. This scares me becasue I could not imagine being burried alive. The potion given to Paxton, if you did not know, makes the body appear dead by any spectator. However, he is not. He is alive and they freakin' bury the poor guy. He awakes in the coffin and... well... see the movie. Last but not least we have a tie. Nosferatu and The Poltergeist. Nosferatu because Max Shreck is scary and The Poltergeist due to, once again, the damn clowns.

Black Christmas (the original) is creeoy but only because of her eyes. Wide, blood-shot, and odd. The Ring pretty much sucked. The only scary scene COULD be the actual tape when she comes out of the tv. But that's about it.I hated The Grudge too. Nothing scary in that. It just sucked horribly. I have not scene In the Mouth of Madness, but since you say so, I shall.

Here is the rest of the list of scary scenes in no specific order...

Oh
by: Chandra

Oh, it only has 3 stars because of "Jane" and her great taste in movies ::note the sarcasm:: The last time I checked "The Shining" still scares grown men. "The Grudge" is terrifying, and the man on the bike from "In the Mouth of Madness" gave me nightmares. I would love to here your brilliant list.

How the hell does this list only have 3 stars? It's good, descriptive, I actually read the whole thing.

To Jane
by: Katelyn

Actually, I've been watching horror movies since I was six, thanks to a friend's older sister. I've seen a ton, these scenes just get me. I didn't say the movies themselves were scary (actually, I explicitly said they weren't). The whole point of this list was to get an idea of what scared other people too. So ante up, or do you not want to, knowing other people are unlikely to find your scary moments all that scary?

If I ever used emoticons (which I don't cause they're lame) I'd insert a winky smile so you would take this as a friendly challenge, not a call-out.
