Scientist Creates Firefly and Roach Hybrid

I saw an older (probably black and white) movie once about a scientist that tries to mate a roach and a firefly.

The match results in angry roaches that burn things. Eventually they morph into giant fireflies that shoot fireballs. They kill the scientist and burn down his house.

If this is familiar to anyone, please let me know what the title is. Thanks.

After reading the Wikipedia page, I think it actually is the 1975 movie Bug. They originated from the center of the earth, but a scientist breeds them with surface bugs in the pressure chamber.

I watched the trailer, and recognized a couple of scenes.

Close, but not the right movie

Thanks for replying to my question. Bug is not the movie I was thinking about though. In Bug, the roaches come from the center of the earth but in my movie the scientist traps an ordinary roach and an ordinary firefly in a mason jar. He may have experimented on them a bit and after a while he gets these hybrids that look like roaches. They escape from the jar and cause chaos.
