Shock Movies?

This isn't about excessive watching, it's more about something that confuses me about what some call 'shock' movies. I can watch them without even cringing or having to turn them off with disgust. In fact, they don't even bother me. Don't get me wrong, I'm no psychopath. Or at least I don't think I am.

I watched The Last House on the Left (1972) expecting to be horrified, but instead I got 84 minutes of "hmm". I loved the film, I just didn't get disgusted. Then I heard about A Serbian Film (2010). I was so excited! But alas, it didn't affect me either.

Hopefully someday there will be a movie that will have some effect on me. Hopefully.
