Original
air date: January 13, 2006 Directed by: Lucky McKee Written by: Sean Hood Short Story by: Sean Hood
Starring:
Angela Bettis as Ida Teeter Erin Brown as Misty Falls
Synopsis: Ida Teeter (Angela Bettis) is
an introverted, lesbian entomologist (she studies bugs) who finds
herself attracted to an introverted girl, Misty (Erin Brown), who seems
to stay in the down stairs lobby of Ida’s work building.
Finally working up the courage, Ida asks the girl out. In the meantime
a package has been delivered to Ida’s apartment that contains
a mysterious beetle that gets loose and bites Misty. Changes soon begin
to take place as Misty becomes the Sick Girl and
Ida starts to regret the speed in which the relationship took off.
Thoughts: Lucky McKee is the director of one of my
favorite Indie films, May. I am glad to see him
getting the recognition that he deserves. Even with a corny concept, he
does a great job turning Sick Girl into an
enjoyable 60 minutes of oddities. Angela Bettis (May,
Girl, Interrupted, etc.) is just a superb actress
and plays Ida Teeter to her fullest in Sick Girl.
Erin Brown (AKA Misty Mundae) does a good job at going from an innocent
to a witch (replace the “w”). Just remember, Sick
Girl is not your regular horror story. Yeah!!!
