Silent Film With Killer Ventriloquist Dummy

I'm trying to remember the name of a silent movie or horror short I saw in the 80's about a Ventriloquist dummy.

A man comes home with the dummy and shows it to his wife. She's later alone in the house with it and it comes to life and starts attacking her. She manages to fight if off, run into a room and lock the door. She looks under the door to see where the dummy is, and it's staring back at her under the door with a knife.

The woman eventually knocks the head off of the dummy with a bat, and as she slides to the ground with relief, the dummy gets back up without a head.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? There was no sound other than eerie music when the doll was attacking.
