The Best Horror Movies of all Time

1) The Shining (1980) - The BEST horror film of all time! Jack Nicholson is the best! I can't imagine this film without Shelley Duvall either. Great camera work, a constant feeling of dread, creepy and lonely atmosphere, and the scene in the hall (with Danny on his Big Wheel), with the twin girls, is terrifying!
2) Halloween (1978) - The Second BEST ever! Michael Myers is the scariest boogeyman of all time. That dull, lifeless, pale mask, is so scary. It's so simple, yet so disturbing. I love the corny dialogue with the characters and Jamie Lee Curtis makes a great young heroine!
3) Alien (1979) - I know this is sci-fi too but I definitely think of it as a horror movie. The Third BEST horror movie ever. It is completely creepy from beginning to end and the acting is solid. The climax of the film is one of the most suspenseful I have ever seen. Also, the film looks great (the miniatures and special effects) and it is complimented with a terrific score!
4) Psycho (1960) - The 4th Best horror film of all time! A great classic with an excellent performance from Anthony Perkins. The Bates Motel is very foreboding, along with that lonely looking house! This is an intelligent, suspenseful thriller with a scene (the one on the stairs) that made me jump a mile! This is another horror film with a superb score!
5) Rosemary's Baby (1968) - This is No. 5 on my list. This is just a totally creepy, unsettling and disturbing movie that makes you feel that there is a sinister conspiracy encircling everything. Good acting by all the main characters and a lonely feeling theme song to boot!
6) The Omen (1976) - Yet another creepfest with another great score by Jerry Goldsmith! Having a child represent a demon and wreak havoc on his parents and surroundings is quite disturbing! The scene at the zoo is a chiller classic and Lee Remmick is good here.
