The Dare That Made Me a Horror Freak...

by Jasmine

Several years ago I watched the movie that got me addicted to horror movies - "The Ring" - I was 12 years old and got dared by a friend to watch it while I was home alone... and being me of course I did it!

So anyway, I remember the day crystal clear, it was a Wednesday and there was a thunder storm forming outside. I put the video in the player and started watching.... I didn't turn my head away from the screen once, and it had gotten to the particularly scary part where the women got pushed into the well and the power in my house went off!

I had just stood up from the couch when the power came back on again and static was crackling on the TV - OMG I have never been so scared in my life!!! I couldn't move at all and adrenaline was pumping through me!!! A few seconds later the TV went back to normal and I watched the rest of the movie in peace.

Now I have watched so many other horror movies and i love them all!

Similar story too...
by: Brian

Hmm, same movie, although not my "introduction" into horror. I rented it shortly when it came to DVD. I have a similar story as well. I rented it to actually watch with others, however... I have a reputation amongst my friends of watching really weird movies. (Horror is not weird!) Anyways, it ended up being me all alone, so I decided to hype the movie up to top-notch. No lights, all alone in an "open" room with windows. It was actually storming outside too. Well, at first I was amused. The beginning is funny, the part where the two girls are talking. Anyways, after I finished watching it, the DVD had a special feature or something that said "DO NOT WATCH THIS", (It replayed the student-style creepy movie in the film) and I of course, had to watch it. Bad move -- TV cut off, all my power went out, and I nearly crapped myself. To top it all off, my phone started to ring. I got really creeped out and "The Ring" has been entered into one of the most scary movies I have ever seen. However, I've seen it quite a lot since then, with it's sequel. I do not think the movie would have scared me so much if that had not happened.
