Would if I could, CowtheSith, but I'm don't have a myspace page. Boo to me.

Well since you have gone to my profile... you should add me. You seem cool enough. Haha. And thanks for the kudos.

Hey CowtheSith,

I am stalking you, it was me who took those tests. I'm glad I pulled off decent scores, cause they were hard! And I mean that as a sincere compliment. Most horror trivia I find is more along the lines of "Name the killer in Nightmare on Elm Street." So kudos!

House of 1000 Corpses
by: Anonymous

I couldn't agree with you more, except for different reasons. Could Rob Zombie have ripped off Texas Chainsaw Massacre any more? This movie was the biggest dissappoinment of all time! I mean COME ON it's Rob Zombie! I saw his house on MTV Cribs once and he had a rediculous horror movie collection, so I was actually expecting a lot more than just a rip off of a classic movie.

Then he redoes Halloween... maybe he should sick with music because he obviously can't come up with his own ideas for movies.

Katelyn... Are You Stalking Me?
by: CowtheSith

If you still have this notice of reply e-mailed to your e-mail, I have a quick question... would this be the very same Katelyn that has taken both of my horror movie tests on testriffic? I saw that the name was in fact Katelyn and I thought that it was either a strong coincidence... or it was you. I just wanted to say that you did very well! 90 on both... I was not surprised you missed the House of 1000 Corpses question seeing that you do not like Mr. Zombie too much. But let me know if this was you!

To CowtheSith
by: Katelyn

Hello hello again,

I was just mentally lamenting the lack of good solid debate on the internet, so clearly I was missing your input. I don't know if you're still getting email posts about this thread, but if so, I invite you to check out my list of scariest movie scenes on this site, if only to hear you soundly tear them down (or not). Plus, I am interested to hear your favourites, be they movies or scenes. Post a list letting us know what scares you; I have a feeling they might get to me as well.

And for Chandra, thanks for your kind words, on both this thread and in response to my scariest movies scenes. Any thoughts to putting a list together yourself?

WTF!?!?!?!
by: Anonymous

OK, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO SAY TO UR LIST. R U INSANE? HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES IS ROB ZOMBIE'S BEST FILM, AND A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT ON HIS PART. U MAY HAVE FOUND IT GROSS AND DISTURBING, BUT I THOUGHT THE FACT THAT THE KID'S IN THE MOVIE COULDN'T GET OUT ALIVE WAS THE MAIN FEELING THAT ZOMBIE WAS GOING FOR. SECOND, THE HILLS HAVE EYES WAS A WELL DONE REMAKE, FAR SURPASSING THE SCARES, MAKE-UP SCRIPT, ACTING, AND DIRECTING OF THE ORIGINAL FILM. AND SILENT HILL IS A WONDERFUL ADAPTATION OF A VIDEO-GAME SERIES, WITH WELL PLACED SCARES AND FANTASTIC SETS AND CHARACTERS. I WILL AGREE WITH U ON ONE POINT, REST STOP IS A MOVIE THAT I THINK EVERY HORROR FAN SHOULD SEE. (AND BTW, WHAT IS WORSE, A TEEN-AGE GIRL GETTING SORTA RAPED BY A COUPLE OF MUTANTS, OR THE BUS SCENES IN REST STOP?!?!) I HOPE U ENJOY THIS CRITIQUE AND DON'T TAKE IT 2 SERIOUSLY.

Aha
by: Chandra

I thought Katelyn wrote the article because of her well-written rebuttal, which seemed to defend the writer's choice of movies at some points. Ok, so the list still sucks. I want Katelyn to write a list based on her comments.

Horror Freaks Unite!
by: CowtheSith

The Horror Czar,

I am glad that we are able to get together in different locations and (friendly) argue and debate. It's cool that our spat was the thread of the month. Keep the threads coming and I'll keep starting crap.

Chandra,

I am not quite sure what it is you are trying to get across? Jennifer C. started her opinions on what her least favorite movies are and we commented. She clearly labled what the three suprise least favorites were. However, I would like to know what her favorite horror movies are.

Finally, the infamous Katelyn,
Thanks again for the debate. If you want to argue with me on some other topics bring your best. Haha.

Neither Katelyn nor CowtheSith are the authors...
by: The Horror Czar (BHM Editor Don Sumner)

Chandra,

The author of this list is Jennifer G., and she has not yet commented back on the feedback this article has generated. I think I'll send her a note and make sure she knows how much discussion there has been here.

This comment thread, by the way, was chosen as the "comment thread of the month" in the BHM newsletter Horror Movie Freaks. I LOVE when horror freaks get freaky!

Don

Hm
by: Chandra

This is meant to be a compliment...you wrote your rebuttal much better than the actual list. I want to know what horror movies are your favorite? Or were the surprise 3 your favorite?

Finally!
by: Katelyn

A person on the internet who doesn't automatically assume a disagreement means we need to hate and insult each other. I'm with you, CowtheSith. I love debating movies, whether or not the person agrees with me. I wasn't offended, but can see how I came across that way. I can also understand your appreciation of Zombie for doing something different. I agree with you there, his films are much more interesting than most current horror, and I still see them all. Thank YOU for the debate, it was fun.

Touché Katelyn.
by: CowtheSith

I like you. It's cool to actually debate movies. Anyway, the point: I see what you mean and I wasn't trying to offend. I was just saying that I enjoy how different his movies are than the typical horror movie. Yes, Halloween is a classic and a great movie... I have to say (and this is not because I am a big Zombie fan) that his version was better. I like the back story and I enjoyed the re-make portion as well. I am not sure how you felt about his version versus Carpenters but I liked Zombies better. Please don't get me wrong though. Without Carpenter there would be movies like Friday, Texas, or even Zombies films. Nevertheless, I understand your view points and I apologize for offending you if indeed I did. In conclusion though, I will say this against Zombie... he has a facination with Charles Manson that was kind of cool with the Helter Skelter quotes in The Devils Rejects, but he is using the Manson stuff way too much. But anyway, thanks for the debate.

Wowza CowtheSith
by: Katelyn

Having an opinion does not equate to not knowing what you're talking about. I don't like Zombie's movies because of poor plot and character development (and sometimes abysmal dialog). Please try to argue that he excels in this area. He writes based on a certain type of 70's horror; not the best ones that were being done at the time, but more of the grade B exploitation flicks. Fine if you liked those, I didn't. I MUCH prefer Carpenter's Halloween (note: made in the 70's) because suspense wasn't sacrificed for a high body count, and you cared about Laurie Strode, rather than kind of wishing she'd just shut up already. I should be clear on Zombie though, because I think that the way he uses the camera and music in his films does border on sheer genius. I think his films could be elevated to absolute classic status if he would realize that other people are better suited to write his ideas out. Obviously, neither he nor you want that, and that's cool. For me, his movies fall flat because of it.

In Return...
by: CowtheSith

First off, Katelyn needs to know what she is talking about. Rob Zombie writes and directs his films. He makes the movies in that way for a reason. He follows the classic 70's horror movie guidelines. They are suppose to be odd and different. It's art and genius. I can see how most people would not like Hills Have Eyes because when you ask, most people like to watch things that could actually happen or will make you think.... Hills does neither. But Zombie is a genius. What is wrong with you people?

Rest Stop? Really?
by: Katelyn

Interestingly enough, I agree with your worst. House of 1000 Corpses proved Zombie has a very good eye and feel for the genre, now he just needs to find someone else to write his movies because the stories and characters are always extremely poorly done. The remake of the Hills Have Eyes was appallingly bad, and not for the rape scene. How about for the extreme stupidity of every character on both sides? I dragged by boyfriend to see it in the theatre, and at one point, both he and the person on my other side said, at the exact same time, "you've got to be fucking kidding me!" People booed at the end. It was insultingly bad for any true horror fan.

But Rest Stop? I almost turned that off, but was kept involved by morbid curiosity to see if it could possibly get worse. And it always could. Why the hell did she keep going back to that rest stop? Just leave woman!

What's wrong with you?
by: CowtheSith

I am a horror movie addict. With that said, House of 1000 Corpses was gold. That was a great take of 70's style horror movies. Not to mention it's the movie that leads into one of the best horror movie made, The Devil's Rejects. The Hills Have Eyes remake was also good. I thought the way they made them more twisted, dangerous, and scary is way beter than the original. And Silent Hill was good. The game is of course better but the movie was not bad to say the least. I enjoyed it. As for Boo and Devil Bat, I completely agree with you.
Now, were you saying that The Exorcism of Emily Rose was bad? Granted, that should not be on this list due to the fact that it is not really a horror movie. It is a thriller/drama. I thought that the movie was really good. I didn't see Rest Stop because the kind of movie has been done a million times before and I am sick of seeing the creativity in horror movies decline. Clownhouse was horrible. So I agree with you on some of your points but as for House of 1000 Corpses, The Hills Have Eyes remake, Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Silent Hill I say to you... what the hell is the matter with you? Keep your lists coming! :)

actually good movies
by: chelsea

First of all, House of a Thousand Corpses, and The Hills Have Eyes are very good movies.Yes they are a little disturbing, but that is why we love them! Rest Stop on the other hand was a terrible movie. There was no plot and characters were disappearing randomly. It was very confusing.

Um...
by: Chandra

I think you personally dislike disturbing movies. "House of 1000 Corpses" is a pretty awesome movie, in my opinion anyways. And "The Hills Have Eyes" is usually rated pretty highly. I don't think you can rate a movie poorly just because you may find it offends your delicate sensibilities. You need to take into account acting, originality, direction, etc. (which you noted with 1 or 2 movies on the list I'll credit you that) Not just "boo hoo those poor teenagers didn't have a chance". Didn't mean to be harsh, sorry, list sucks.
