The Only Horror Fan in the House

Does anyone share a house with a non- horror family? No one gets it here, and I don't get why not?

I married a great lady and she has 2 kids living at home. The daughter is 17 and sometimes I think that she sees it as EVIL. She'll look at some tense movies but will cover her ears, which is cute I guess… and it gives me something to rib her about. My step-son is twelve and he's just petrified. Now, I'm not putting in The Exorcist around him but this kid tenses up at Searching For Bobby Fischer! OK, that's an exaggeration but you get the point. My wife, bless her, will sometimes actually sit and watch a Romero Dead movie with me but she obviously isn't into it. Now she can like Sixth Sense and that kind of thing, but Dead Alive? Friday the 13th? No. She wants to watch The General's Daughter or Man on Fire, which have their qualities but... not horror.

The best thing I can do is stay up very late on weekends to get my horror fix. I think horror movies are far less bad influences on kids than nervous parents cause... the scenarios in horror aren’t plausible. CSI on TV is worse to me. I have to have escapism.

Any suggestions on how I can get my horror fix at any time other than 3 am?

What's your story?

Dead End
by: Nick

I feel your pain man, my friends will humor me a little but they usually fall asleep half way through and my girlfriend absolutely hates them, anyway I found with people that can't stand them to try a differnt more easy approach which I'm sure you have already attempted.
Try renting or buying the movie "Dead End" its a really good suspenseful horror movie and its very light on the gore so theres no worry of overly dramatic scenes.
This movie has brought a few of my friends further into the horror scene.
I guess we're all just trying to ease our loved ones into watching them with us so we don't feel like total dorks watching them alone in the dark.

THOSE DAMN NON HORROR PEOPLE!
by: paige

HEY ONLY HORROR FAN! I SHARE YOUR PAIN. I AM OBVIOUSLY A HORROR FREAK, OTHERWISE I WOULD NOT BE ON THIS SITE. ANYWAY, I AM THE ONLY HORROR FREAK IN MY HOUSE AS WELL. MY HUBBY IS ALL SCIFI, AND MY KIDS ARE ALL ABOUT FUNNY MOVIES. NOW, MY KIDS ARE OLDER TEENS, AND THEY ARE NOT SCARED OF ANYTHING, BUT I CAN WATCH ANY SCARY MOVIE AT ANY TIME, EVEN ONES THAT I HAVE SEEN A MILLION TIMES! MY KIDS ARE HARDLY EVER AT HOME, BUT JUST WHEN I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A GOOD HORROR FLICK, THE HUBBY COMES HOME FROM WORK, AND HE GROANS BECAUSE I AM WATCHING HALLOWEEN FOR THE ZILLIONTH TIME, AND SO I DO NOT MAKE HIM SUFFER THROUGH IT AGAIN, I SIMPLY GO INTO OUR BEDROOM AND WATCH IT IN THERE, OR GET YOUR WIFE OR YOURSELF A MINI DVD PLAYER, WITH HEADPHONES. IF I HAD MY WAY, THERE WOULD BE SCARY MOVIES ON 24/7 AT MY HOUSE. BUT WE ALL HAVE TO COMPROMISE. MY KIDS GREW UP ON SCARY MOVIES SO THEY HAVE SEEN THEM ALL. GOOD LUCK!

I have to hide my horror movies cuz the person i live w/ doesnt want his kids to even see the boxes! He looks at me strangely when I point out a movie I want to see...like he really thinks im going to snap and go on a murderous rampage.

Anyway, i feel ya...none of my friends even like horror films. I gotta bribe em into watching them w/ me...

Cheers!
