Usually as an adult you will find your mind going back to childhood - playing with your friends, the ice cream truck.
For some of us, our minds go back to the times we watched our first horror movie, in the dark, while everyone was sleeping. Of course, you had snuck out to watch it.
The first movie I remember scaring the bleep out of me was a beautiful movie called The Changeling (1980), with George C. Scott. Saw that movie by myself, in the dark. Are horror addicts really traumatized at an early age, or are we groomed at an early age?
Ghost story: yes.
Fun acting: yes.
Best seance scene: YES!
For the scene, they are listening to the medium talk her talk. It's later on, when the main character is listening to the tapes that you get the full scope of the movie, and its violent intentions.
Of course, Alien (1979) in the dark, as well. In the dark, everyone can hear you scream, that's why you sit there, with a pillow over your mouth, shaking as you watch and wait for the next heart-wrenching scene to make you jump.
