Satan's Blade - Obscure and Great!

10) Don't Look in the Basement -
S.F. Brownrigg gave us blandness alongside insanity to great a perfect balance of weird. I don't think I've ever seen such a vast array of crazy characters in one film. Some truly great performances with a great twist ending.

9) Sisters of Death -
This film did the invitation thing first. It's definitely one of the better proto - slashers from the early years. It's cheesy, creepy in parts and an above caliber drive-in flick.

8) Silent Night Bloody Night -
Theodore Gershuny gave us a somber toned film that will leave you depressed for the rest of the day. It's washed out and grainy look actually helps add to the atmosphere. The flashback sequence is one of the better moments in any slasher film. Again, a very influential forgotten film that's been used as a catalyst for other films after that gained more recognition.

7) When a Stranger Calls '79 -
A very creepy film that has one of the best openings in any slasher films. One would argue that it's a true slasher film, but I think it qualifies.

6) Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives -
Simply one of the most entertaining slasher flicks I've ever seen an all around good time. This one has such a fun vibe about it.

5) Final Exam -
This early entry in the slasher department plays out like a TV movie filled with watered down college pranks, but it's creepy ambiance and dark corridors make way for a truly entertaining slasher attempt. Virtually bloodless, and copied from Halloween, but the this one has some very tense moments.

4) The Final Terror -
Again, this one is highly underrated. I think the low bodycount turns people away. This one has an ultra backwoods feel to it that you can't deny. The acting is way above average with John Friedrich (Zorich) stealing the show. A creepy killer to boot. A great backwoods slasher film.

3) Class Reunion Massacre -
This could very well be number 1 in my list, but the last three are optional. This is probably THE best proto - type slasher film ever made. Made in '76, a mad preacher collects from the sins of his peers when he invites them to a faux reunion where he does away with the one by one. A truly frightening, claustrophobic movie that leaves not much room for any more weirdness.

2) Friday the 13th -
The ambiance and voyeuristic feel to this one makes it a classic.

(These movie are all number 1 in my book)

1) Satan's Blade -
one of the most obscure slasher films ever made. A snowbound slasher with a creepy synth score and some good gialloesque scenes that make up for ultra bad acting and all its other badness. This one holds dear to me.

Just Before Dawn -
One of the best backwoods slashers ever made.

Wrong Turn -
To be a contemporary slasher film, this one delivers perfectly with a no way out backwoods feel.

The Texas Chainsaw massacre - CLASSIC

Halloween - CLASSIC

MY BLOODY VALENTINE -
This is the end all of the slasher film. If the only movie I owned was this, I'd be happy. This is the best slasher movie ever made. The most entertaining. The most everything. I live eat and breathe this movie.
