Top Ten of True Terror
by N.TYRONE
(THE BIG APPLE BABIES!)
BLIND SPOT'S HOT LISTS
Though I can appreciate splatter flix or even your run of the mill fright fest... it takes a little something extra to make your spine tingle... this is my top ten.
10 - 30 Days of Night:
While it may not be the scariest movie ever..the cinematography, lighting and great creature effects are sure to creep you out.
9 - The Decent:
This one has it all...hot babes, dark holes, and creepy albino thingies... ooh yeah.
8 - Night Breed:
A tale of the mythical Midian where monsters live... phkn' great. Clive Barker is the man.
7 - Near Dark:
Takes the feeling of fantasy out of the vampire mythos. A flick that leaves you believing the dead can walk among us.
6 - The Grindhouse :
The recent double feature homage to B horror flicks by Tarentino and Rodriguez.
5 - The Exorcism of Emily Rose:
A movie that puts the holy back into holy shit. A super creepy tale of religion vs the supernatural.
4 - The Hamiltons:
Not since the flick Near Dark have I seen such a unique take on the vampire mythos... spooky spine tingling neighbors next door.
3 - Ginger Snaps:
Easily the best werewolf flick I have ever seen and probably the best ever. Sets the bar on the genre pretty high.]
2 - The Devils Rejects:
Rob Zombie saves his career as a director and a lot of face after releasing this sequel to the horrible (and not in a good way) House of 1000 Corpses. Devils rejects is sleek and brilliantly directed at times with what appears to be at least six or seven cameras to give the appearance of movement without a cut. Ultra violent and completely deviant!
1 - Battle Royale:
A bunch of kids sent to an island to kill each other. While I struggled as to whether to add this underground hit the memory of the horror it brought to me on my first watch made me include it... this movie not only set a higher bar for splatter/gore movies, it set a higher bar for movies in general.
