'SOTD'
by: Carl (UK)

I think (correct me if im wrong) that Mr Romero himself rates Shaun of the Dead as a masterpiece and even came out of retirement because of it.

If that doesn't make it a true Zombie film, you need to let me know what does!

I liked both movies
by: Anonymous

At least Shaun of the Dead is a zombie movie. I love zombies and knowing that, someone recently recommended Poultrygeist: Night of the Dead Chicken (2006), the worst movie I've ever seen.

Haha
by: Moss Daley

Thanks for answering my question, Zombie dude. It's just that I can't stand how Shaun of the Dead deliberatly tries to be funny and it doesn't even come close. Like Evil Dead, Return of the Living Dead, Dellamorte Dellamore, and Brain Dead, there are parts where you can tell the writers didn't mean for certain scenes to be funny (Evil Dead especially.) I just think that old school style of filmmaking is what really makes those films great. Shaun of the Dead was just a mainstream dud to me.

Also, the zombie hero thing has been overdone too many times (Ash, Lionel, Francesco Dellamorte). Shaun will never be mentioned in the same sentence as those characters.

I just can't stand when people start talking about horror movies, and I ask them their favorite and they say Shaun of the Dead. It's happened soo many friggin times. My girlfriend's favorite horror movie is the original Night of the Living Dead - yeah I found me a keeper. Haha.

Cheers.

Now now now, let's not throttle someone's opinion
by: DarkJesterCyn

There have been a lot of zombie flicks that I thought were total wrecks that others found great, so I try trash other people's opinions.

I will however point out that while Shaun of the Dead was a parody and funny to boot, the zombies were like in any good straight horror movie - they weren't acting silly or stupid or starring in beer commercials. No, it was the morons around the situation that brought the comedy, the zombies were serious a point which they proved when they ripped the winchester (and David) to pieces in a very brutal true zombie way.

I agree with Zombie Master that this is a true great - a comedy with serious zombies that you can respect and even empathize with when they become the jokes of the surviving world, being made to do stupid stuff on TV and skilless jobs everyone hates.

I'd say watch it again and watch with that in mind and if you don't see it, hey that's cool too. Afterall if everyone had the same opinion the world would be a boring place.
