Zombie Classics

Night of the Living Dead: A classic Romero film, his first as director and one of his best in my opinion. A classic tale of survival with some great reflections on our own society thrown in there. Classic slow and stupid zombies.

Dawn of the Dead (original): Another of Romero's great films, definitely a movie you'll remember with one of the first takes on zombies being more personified with a lot of speed and aggression.

Day of the Dead: A small group of military officers and scientists hide out in an underground bunker as the world above is overrun by zombies. More of a look at the people within the bunker rather than the zombies themselves but Romero manages to squeeze some serious gore in.

Land of the Dead: In my opinion this movie was made for a laugh as much as it was an excuse to try something new. This movie adds a whole new level to zombie films giving them some degree of intelligence beyond past zombie films.

Dawn of the Dead (remake): Great movie, very 'un-Romero' in its gore content. Very few scenes of brutality but great for some cheap laughs and cheap frights.

Zombie Holocaust: Love this movie purely based on the completely ridiculous plot and hysterical 'fright' scenes.

Diary of the Dead: Another Romero film (love him) involving several kids trying to survive a post apocalyptic zombie world with a surprising cool about them. Filmed as a sort of blair witch rip off with the film being seen through a students video camera (don't let that put you off, still a great film).

Zombieland: A funny, relatively light hearted zombie film, not much more to be said. If you're not into the old school stuff or not a huge zombie fan I'd highly recommend it.

Dead Snow: A great zombie movie with some pretty brutal mutilation. Be warned this movie is not in english and to my knowledge has no dub as of yet. If you're willing to trudge through the subtitles to see some brutal and hilarious gore scenes keep an eye out.

28 Days Later: Not technically a zombie film but none the less one of the few high budget "zombie" films out there. IF you haven't seen it and want a few cheap frights and an overall decent plot I'd recommend it.
