Marriage is a “blessed arrangement”, a “dweam within a dweam” if you will. It is a sacred moment when two decide to become one. It is a time in which vows are expressed to one another promising to stand side by side regardless of circumstance. In my sick and twisted mind I thought, “Now wouldn’t this be a nice place to put a zombie?” The good news is that I was not alone in this thinking.
Zombie Honeymoon tells the tale of two people in love. Denise (Tracy Coogan) and Danny (Graham Sibley) have just married and are ready to start their honeymoon on
the Jersey shore. While relaxing on the beach, a man comes from the water and attacks Danny. When they arrive at the hospital, Danny is pronounced dead but then wakes up all of a sudden and is ready to go home.
The next day Denise notices something very odd about Danny. He has been a vegetarian for many years and now Denise finds him eating the neighbor. After much thought about what to do next, Denise decides to live up to her vows and clean up the mess that Danny has left. They had talked about going to Portugal together and what better time than the present to make good on the trip. The question is, can Denise keep Danny’s hunger suppressed before she can get the trip worked out and before Officer Carp (Neal Jones) catches on to what is happening.
Zombie Honeymoon is a fantastic film for the Zombie fan. Apparently I am not the only one to think so either. Zombie Honeymoon has been honored by the Slamdance Film
Festival, the Hampton’s International Film Festival, the San Francisco IFF, and the USA Film Festival. It also one the “Best with Less” award at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. David Gebroe (writer, director, producer, and all around good guy) adds another notch in the belt of the independent film maker. Tracey Coogan and Graham Sibley make the movie even more worth watching as they make the material believable. Even Tonya Cornelisse and David Wallace make the campy characters of Nikki and Buddy fun to watch. Questions or comments about Zombie Honeymoon? Contact us!
