Zombie Master: Life of Death at the End of a Zombie Movie?

Dear Zombie Master,
I recently discovered Best-Horror-Movies.com and started reading through some of your reviews and Q&As. Although I disagree with some of your views, a lot of them I agree with. So I have to ask your opinion on something.
At the end of a good zombie storyline, should everyone fall victim to zombies or should there be a survivor or two? I mean, a lot of people like the happy ending "oh yay they survived" type of movie but personally I like the whole "wow! everyone died" type of movie.
p.s. I really wish I had found this website before actually watching the 2008 remake of Day of The Dead.
3M
3M,
First let me begin by saying that if someone agreed with all of my views I would worry. They would either be a mind numbed robot or a stalker.
Second, I am one who feels that the entire film should dictate the ending. One of the great things about the original NOTLD was the fact that Ben died in the end. Some may not agree with me and it was a shocking ending but with the type of social commentary that NOTLD was full of I don't think it could have ended any other way. In the same sense however I would like to think that I have prepared myself enough to survive a zombie outbreak so when I see Sarah, John and William chilling out on the beach of a deserted island at the end of the original Day of the Dead I have to cheer.
I know it is not much of an answer but I like both.
Third, I am really sorry that you had to go through that atrocity. I was physically ill for days and still have to hold back anger and animosity when I think about it.
Good hunting and aim high,
The Zombie Master
